[PERFORMANCE INTRODUCTION]
This concert traces the historical evolution of the cello from its past role primarily as an accompanying instrument to its development as a solo instrument. Through unaccompanied solo works by Bach and Dall'Abaco, as well as concertos by Leo and Monn, we aim to provide a multidimensional perspective on this transformation while bringing the essence of 18th-century Baroque cello music back into focus for contemporary audiences.
In particular, this performance seeks to enhance diversity in the classical music market by presenting works by lesser-known composers, thereby expanding cultural opportunities for local audiences. Furthermore, through a program encompassing both solo and concerto works, the performer will demonstrate versatile artistry as a professional musician and establish themselves as an artist who communicates meaningfully with audiences.
This concert illuminates the historical transformation of the cello from its former supporting role in lower registers to its development as an independent instrument. By pairing unaccompanied solo works that allow full focus on the cello's timbre with concertos that showcase the soloist's presence within an ensemble, we create a dramatic contrast between these two genres on a single stage.
Moreover, by harmoniously weaving together distinct national musical styles that coexist within the same era, we aim to provide a multidimensional view of the diverse spectrum of 18th-century European music. The program is carefully designed to naturally convey through performance how geographical and cultural environments influenced musical style, enabling audiences to intuitively and engagingly appreciate the rich colors of Baroque music.
We hope this performance will contribute significantly to both musical depth and artistic excellence, while also broadening the foundation of regional cultural arts and diversifying our audience base. Furthermore, it will be remembered as a stage where a professional musician communicates deeply with audiences through broad technical mastery and refined interpretation.
