Lee Daiwon (1921-2005) is a leading figure in Korean modern art. Despite being selected three consecutive times for the Joseon Art Exhibition during his teenage years and holding a total of 19 solo exhibitions beginning at age 36, Lee has been the subject of limited art-historical research and exhibitions. This exhibition reexamines the artist's life and art from multiple perspectives by situating his works within their formative and historical contexts and by carefully tracing the process through which his iconic orchard paintings emerged.
